Taybeh must not vanish into silence. Taybeh, the last fully Christian town in Palestine, is suffering months of attacks by Israeli settlers. On August 5, settlers entered the property of a Christian family belonging to the local parish, cut through the fence and brought a flock of sheep onto the family’s land. The incident follows reports of fires, damage to farmland and repeated incursions onto private property. Around 1,200 Christians remain in Taybeh, a West Bank town traditionally identified with the biblical Ephraim. Parish priest Bashar Fawadleh has appealed for international attention: “Do not forget Taybeh! Taybeh must not vanish into silence.”

Tajbeh, the last fully Christian town in Palestine, has been subjected to attacks and intimidation by Israeli settlers for months.
Residents fear that the pressure will force more families to leave their homes and land. The village, located east of Ramallah in the West Bank, is identified with the biblical Ephraim. According to tradition, Jesus and his disciples found refuge there. Recently, there have been repeated incursions onto private properties and farmland. On August 5, settlers entered the property of a family belonging to the parish, destroyed the fence, and brought a flock of sheep onto the land. Such actions are systematic in nature and are intended to instill fear and force Palestinians to leave their land. There have also been instances of arson, destruction of fields, roadblocks, and restrictions on freedom of movement. “We feel forgotten; we feel alone,” he emphasizes, appealing to the international community for concrete protection of the civilian population and political …Mususu

Ukrainian soldiers are desparate. So they took to social media. (video included).

Ukrainian soldiers report critical conditions on the front lines. A brigade commander claims his troops have gone months without rotation or regular supplies of water, food, and medicine.
A group of Ukrainian soldiers took to social media to say they were forced to drink their own urine due to Kiev’s failure to rotate or provide them with supplies. The soldiers urged Ukraine’s recently appointed top general, Mikhail Drapaty, to intervene, claiming their immediate command ignored their pleas.
The scandal erupted on Tuesday when the soldiers, claiming to be a fire support platoon with the 121st Territorial Defense Brigade, published their address on social media. The video features several men sitting inside a dark room, likely a basement, with the platoon commander, who identified himself as Anatoly Sischuk, reading out the address.
Sischuk claimed that his platoon was in one position in Zaporozhye Region, Russia for nearly four months, despite their command initially promising the unit …Mususu

Leo XIV Received Cardinal Eijk Following Months of Health Problems

Today, Pope Leo XIV received Cardinal Willem Jacobus Eijk, 73, of Utrecht, in audience.
AdVaticanum.com reported that the audience comes amid renewed attention to the cardinal’s health. Cardinal Eijk was absent from both extraordinary consistories convened by Pope Leo XIV this year, in January and June, with his absence from the June gathering reported as health-related.
His health problems stretch back more than two decades.
In 2001, while serving as Bishop of Groningen, he suffered a brainstem infarction. One of its lasting consequences was severe facial pain.
On March 2, 2020, the Archdiocese of Utrecht published excerpts from a letter Cardinal Eijk had sent that day to members of pastoral teams. The letter concerned treatment he had undergone abroad for the facial pain caused by his 2001 brainstem infarction.
Cardinal Eijk wrote: “I never made public statements about this facial pain, because I wanted to prevent people from sparing me because of it and from being reluctant to call …Mususu

Leo XIV's 2015 Citizenship File: Remain in Peru Till Death

The Peruvian naturalization file of Robert Prevost preserves a handwritten letter in which he expressed his desire to remain in Peru “for the rest of my life.”
The documentation, held by Peru’s National Superintendency of Migration, records the process through which the American-born Prevost obtained Peruvian citizenship in 2015 after years of pastoral work in the country.
According to TVPerú Noticias, Prevost submitted his application in 2015 and addressed a handwritten letter to then-President Ollanta Humala explaining his ties to Peru and formally requesting nationality.
As part of the naturalization process, Prevost also underwent an examination on Peruvian history, geography and culture. Héctor Pérez, head of Migraciones’ General Archive, said the future pope achieved an exceptionally high result.
The essential details of Prevost’s naturalization are confirmed by official Peruvian records. Supreme Resolution No. 157-2015-IN, dated August 17, 2015, states that Prevost applied for …Mususu

Saint Louis Bertrand - October 9
Louis Bertrand
, OP (Spanish: Luis Beltrán or Luis Bertrán; Valencian: Lluís Bertran; 1 January 1526 – 9 October 1581) was a Spanish Dominican friar who preached in South America during the 16th century, and is known as the "Apostle to the Americas". He is venerated as a saint by the Catholic Church.
Early life
Bertrand was born in Valencia to Juan Bertrand and Juana Angela Exarch. Through his father he was related to St. Vincent Ferrer, a thaumaturgus of the Dominican Order. At an early age he conceived the idea of becoming a Dominican Friar, and despite the efforts of his father to dissuade him, was clothed with the Dominican habit in the Convent of St. Dominic, Valencia, on 26 August 1544. After the usual period of probation, he pronounced the evangelical vows.
He was grave in demeanour and apparently without any sense of humour, yet had a gentle and sweet disposition that greatly endeared him to those with whom he came in contact. While he …Mususu

Britain's New PM Andy Burnham Is Non Catholic Catholic

British Catholic Prime Minister Andy Burnham is "a non-Catholic Catholic kind of guy", UK-based writer Steven Tucker argues on August 7 on CrisisMagazine.com. Burnham has absorbed a specifically left-wing, Liverpool strain of Catholic Social Teaching that is socialism in disguise. Main points:
Archbishop Derek Worlock (1920–1996) of Liverpool had a significant influence on Burnham during his youth. As an altar boy, Burnham played tapes of Worlock's sermons in which he criticised the central government for neglecting the North West.
Burnham considered the "vast majority" of staff at his Catholic schools to be Labour supporters who encouraged him in that direction. In 2012, Burnham said that "what I used to read in the catechism - the realisation of it on Earth - was the Labour Party'.
He has campaigned, voted and marched for homosex "marriage", homosex adoption and gender policies. He has even supported male access to women's facilities.
While mayor of Manchester, he took part in a city …Mususu

Cardinal Zuppi at Agnostic’s Secular Funeral: “The Lord Could Not Stand Dogmas”

Cardinal Matteo Zuppi of Bologna and president of the Italian Bishops’ Conference attended the private funeral of Italian singer-songwriter Francesco Guccini in Pavana on Saturday.
He delivered an address, published on Avvenire.it (August 8), in which he practically canonized the self-described agnostic.
Guccini, 86, had described himself as an “agnostic possibilist.” Zuppi, who was his friend, recalled that the singer had once told him he wanted the cardinal present at his funeral.
Addressing Guccini directly, Cardinal Zuppi imagined what the deceased might now be seeing: “We do not know precisely … what you see: the fullness of that light which, in reality, you had already sensed from here and which you were able to glimpse in the poignant and infinite beauty of life.”
Cardinal Zuppi portrayed Guccini’s agnostic doubt positively, as an honest search for truth.
“Doubt was your way of standing before things without cheating, with integrity,” he said. “You never stopped asking and listening.” …Mususu

German Bishop: Laypeople Preach in My Diocese — and I Won’t Sanction Them

The Vatican's reasoning for the ban on lay preaching is "not entirely consistent," Bishop Peter Kohlgraf of Mainz told Katholisch.de on August 11.
"The letter from the Prefect for Liturgy states that only the priest celebrating Mass may preach. But taken to its logical conclusion, that would mean a concelebrating priest or an assisting deacon shouldn't be allowed to preach either."
Lay Preaching Is No Problem
In the Diocese of Mainz, occasional lay preaching has become an established practice and Bishop Kohlgraf has no intention of changing that.
In some parishes, "it is customary for laypeople to preach," he said. "If I hear about it, I won't take disciplinary action or impose canonical sanctions."
"Denunciations" Are a Problem
Bishop Kohlgraf is concerned that the directive from Rome could encourage "denunciations": "There are people who report liturgical violations straight to the bishop and write directly to me. That happened before too - individual people would complain to me - but …Mususu

Even a blind squirrel will find a nut every once in a while. So the Prefect for Liturgy is careless to the point of being goofy. But what self-respecting Catholic, much less a bishop, can use this for an excuse?

Bishop Peter Kohlgraf of Mainz criticised the Vatican’s June 17 ruling upholding the ban on lay preaching at Mass as “not entirely coherent”. He noted that lay preaching has become common practice and said he would neither intervene nor impose canonical sanctions.

‘Diversity of the Pains — Blasio Raised from the Dead…’ – ‘Purgatory’ by Rev. Shouppe; 1929; Chapter XXI; p. 64-66, part I

Chapter XXI ~ Diversity of the Pains — Blasio Raised from the Dead by St. Bernardine — Venerable Prances of Pampeluna and the Pen of Pire — St. Corpreus and King Malachy.
The celebrated Blasio Massei, who was raised from the dead by St. Bernardine of Sienna,
saw that there was great diversity in the pains of Purgatory. The account of this miracle is given at length in the Acta Sanctorum (Appendix, May 20).
A short time after the canonisation of St. Bernardine of Sienna, there died at Cascia, in the kingdom of Naples, a child aged eleven years, named Blasio Massei. His parents had inspired him with the same devotion which they them- selves had towards this new saint, and the latter was not slow to recompense it. The day after his death, when the body was being carried to the grave, Blasio awoke as from a profound slumber, and said that St. Bemardine had restored him to life, in order to relate the wonders which the saint had shown him in the other world.

"In Hell, Blasio saw indescribable horrors, and the divers tortures by which the proud, the avaricious, the impure, and other sinners are tormented. Amongst them he recognised several whom he had seen during life, and he even witnessed the arrival of two who had just died, Buccerelli and Frascha. The latter was damned for having kept ill-gotten goods in his possession. The son of Frascha, struck by this revelation as by a thunderbolt, and knowing well the truth of the statement, hastened to make complete restitution ; and not content with this act of justice, that he might not expose himself to share one day the sad lot of his father, he distributed the rest of his fortune to the poor and embraced the monastic life."

Leo XIV Keeps Marx in Vatican, Adds 🌈 Cardinals to Economy Council

Today, Leo XIV has appointed eight new members to the Vatican’s Council for the Economy. It is responsible for supervising the Holy See’s financial and administrative structures.
He confirmed Munich Cardinal Reinhard Marx as coordinator of the body.
Furthermore, Leo XIV confirmed German law professor Charlotte Kreuter-Kirchhof as vice-coordinator. She participated in the German Synodal Way, personally advocating the involvement of the faithful in episcopal selection. She urged delegates that implementation could begin without waiting for Rome: “You don't have to wait for anything or anyone.”
The new members include four cardinals:

Cardinal Ladislav Nemet, S.V.D., Archbishop of Belgrade, Serbia;
Cardinal Jean-Paul Vesco, O.P., Archbishop of Algiers, Algeria; and
